8 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Kim Kardashian
Quality vs. QuantitySource:
QUALITY VS. QUANTITYAs women we love dressing up and are conscious of the number of times we wear a certain outfit or clothing item. So when given the choice between a $150 sweater and a few tops at Forever 21, most will go for the latter. The issue with that is quality can easily be forgone for quantity and part of building a long lasting wardrobe is quality. Building and sustaining a wardrobe takes time but it is something every woman must do. Starting with accessories, every girl should have at least one quality handbag, piece of jewellery and pair of shoes. If you have more than one that’s great, but with everything in life you must start somewhere. A quality handbag is one that is made from long lasting material such as heavy canvas and leather. Check the straps and make sure that the seams are consistent, secure and there are no unfinished edges. Make sure that the strap attachment also has flawless stitching and don’t forget to test the zipper. The interior of the bag is just as important so check the lining and make sure that it is made of lasting material such as thick nylon, wool, vinyl or leather. Finally, check the handbag for crocking (colour rub-off) by gently rubbing a handkerchief along the bag and making sure you rub under the handles as well. Jewellery is a lot more personal but the key thing to remember is to choose pieces that are made of gold, platinum or silver so that they may last longer and not fade. Finally, the process of choosing shoes is very similar to that of a handbag. Stitches, seams and the finishing should be flawless and sturdy and the material must be long lasting. Starting a collection of accessories is the easy part, maintaining them is where the hard work comes in. With shoes and bags, you must make sure that you preserve them by keeping them stored in a dust bag. If you are going to store them for a long period of time, then you should stuff the bag with old news papers and fill the shoes with shoe trees so they may retain their original shape. Jewellery should preferably be stored in a box to prevent tangling and accidental breakage. It is important you do not lose the habit of storing your accessories. In the beginning I know it is easy because they are new and the excitement is still live, however I guarantee that if you stick by it you will not regret it.

University and Work TemptationSource:
THE TEMPTATIONS OF WORKING
AND ATTENDING UNI
IN THE WESTWorking or attending university in a western country is not a walk in the park when you are Muslim and practicing. The temptations are real and too many to count. Whether it is socializing with colleagues at a bar for happy hour, or it is a night out at the hottest club with your friends from microbiology class, the temptations are there. You may be thinking that there is no possible way not to attend all of these events without seeming like a nun or a party pooper but I beg to differ. Be that it is university or work, you are attending either institution to accomplish something; one to get a degree and the other to build a career and make an income. You should never forget that. Everything else is extra non-important stuff. Right about now you may be thinking that I don’t understand. What are you meant to do when you get off work, on weekends and after class? The good news is, there are way more rewarding things to do. Between classes and at the end of the day, instead of going to a bar you could go out for dinner with some friends, go watch a movie or a play or you could actually do what you were sent to do which is study. Extra studying will never be bad, in fact it will make you better prepared for your next class. Okay so now you may be think, yea but that still does not make up for the week, or not. But my advice to you is to explore during the weekend. Go indoor rock climbing with your friends, attend that baking workshop you’ve always wanted to attend, go play tennis, go paintballing, go skiing, go go-karting, take a road trip to the beach, go on a boat cruise… I can really go on but you the point. The best part is that it will not cost you anymore than you would pay going to a club or a bar. Other than a change in activities, you should also consider a change in friends or people you hang with on a regular day basis if you fear that they will be the cause of you slipping back into old habits. You never know though, after sharing with your friends that you will no longer be going to night clubs or bars with them, they may have a change of heart as well and decide to follow your lead. However all I know is that after a few weekends of parasailing, indoor rock climbing or skiing, your friends will be dying to come hang out with you. The same thing goes for your work life. During the week I am sure that after a long at work you are eager to get home, have dinner, maybe watch some TV then go to bed. However, if you do feel the need to go out after the work, go see a movie instead, or go to the mall. On weekends you should suggest some of these activities to your friends or colleagues. You may be surprised that they are things that they may have wanted to try for some time but had no one to go with. They are great bonding activities and in the long run, you will form better bonds then you would over alcohol.
Kim Kardashian has transformed herself from a closet organizer and stylist to a multimillion-dollar brand. If Google’s most recent list of the most searched people is any indication, she’s one of the most famous people in the world.
Wear it dry, and you’ve got your standard dusting of color—classic and predictable (in a good way). But wet! Wearing it wet opens a whole new world of opportunity. “What you’re doing is bringing out the pigmented nature of the shadow,” makeup artist Vincent Oquendo says. “Whenever I wet an eye shadow, it’s when I really want it to pop—but it really has to be a special kind of product to be able to blend after it sets. Because a lot of the times when it sets, you get streaking.” Nobody wants that. In order to avoid any wet shadow mishaps, follow these guidelines:
First, go with the obvious: any eye shadow labeled wet-to-dry. The Nars Dual-Intensity line is the standout—the singles come in 12 different shimmery shades, and there’s a corresponding brush (then there’s the newly released Dual Intensity Blush line, which was all over Fashion Week—but that’s a product for another post). Burberry also makes a few very versatile shades specifically for this in their Wet & Dry Silk Shadows. And the technique-specific eye shadow category isn’t just a ploy to get you to buy more product. “You can’t just use any eye shadow for this,” Vincent says. “Certain ones will harden up on top and become unusable because they’re not made for this.”
Baked shadows are also fair game—we’re fans of Laura Mercier’s Baked Eye Colour Wet/Dry and Lorac’s Starry-Eyed Baked Eye Shadow Trio in particular.
For more advanced players, Vincent suggests moving on to straight pigment (MAC or even OCC’s Pure Cosmetic Pigments). With the added moisture, they’ll become easier to layer with other products. For a look with more depth, try using a cream shadow as a based before swiping with a wet powder shadow. “It’s like insurance,” Vincent says. “You’re doubling your wearability.”
This all depends on exactly what you want to do. “Mind the resistance,” Vincent says, particularly if you’re looking for uniform color across the lid. “I tend to recommend a blender brush, which is the brush that looks like a feather duster. If you do it with a stiff brush, you’re defeating yourself before you even start. The joy of a wet-to-dry is you have to get it right amount of product loaded up, and then it blends itself. If the brush is too stiff, it will leave the shadow streaky and then much harder to control.”
However, if tightlining or waterlining is in the cards, a much thinner brush is required accordingly.
Do not, repeat, do not put eye drops, water, or any other sort of liquid directly on your eye shadow. This’ll screw up your product for later use. “Lately, I’ve been wetting the brush with the Glossier Soothing Face Mist, but Evian Mineral Water Spray is good for sensitive eyes,” Vincent says. If the top of your powder does get a little hardened by wet application, there’s a trick to remove it: Get a clean mascara spoolie and “exfoliate” your compact, Vincent recommends. This won’t crack the compact and will make it ready to go once more.
