As an American living in Stockholm, whose vote still counts, I am sure you can guess who I will NOT BE VOTING for and the obvious reasons why:
“The Muslim Problem” as Donald Trump said.
Freedom of speech gives Trump the right to express his opinions, but freedom of religion gives Muslims the right to practice Islam in the USA. Not to mention, the other minority groups he believes should be stopped at the border as in Mexicans.
Minorities make up about 36 percent of the US population and that just means Trump has lost not only that percentage of votes, but also all of the friends that support them. Better luck next time if he dares!
Trump has a silly way of defending his comments especially when it continues to get him into trouble rather than save him. In fact, he is now facing a problem with the UK, where he does business. 380,000 people have voted against his entering the UK, which is now being held up for debate at the House of Commons.
He argues that the British should be thanking him and that what he is doing is good for the Muslims. What is he doing other than verbally attacking different cultural and religious communities during a presidential campaign which he is lucky enough to be funding all on his own finance considering he would have had trouble finding celebrity endorsements, otherwise!
Mohammed Ali, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, President Obama, just to name a few, are against Trump´s comment on stopping Muslims from entering the USA until they “figure out” what the heck is happening. It is true that he is not president yet, but actions do speak louder than words so perhaps, instead of talking himself deeper and deeper into a devastating loss in the presidential campaign, Trump should read the quran and figure out what is happening.
It is time that he understood the different between Islam and those who misconstrue it for their own demise. Even Facebook´s founder, Mark Zuckerberg, said, “I want to add my voice in support of Muslims in our community and around the world.
“After the Paris attacks and hate this week, I can only imagine the fear Muslims feel that they will be persecuted for the actions of others.
“As a Jew, my parents taught me that we must stand up against attacks on all communities. Even if an attack isn’t against you today, in time attacks on freedom for anyone will hurt everyone.”
While Trump tells media that some of his closest friends are Muslims and believe he is saying all the right things, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar are halting sales on “Trump Home,” a line lamps, mirrors and jewelry boxes. Moreover, the parent firm Landmark with its 190 stores in the Middle East, Africa and Pakistan tells The Guardian that they are pulling all Trump merchandise off its shelves.
Therefore, it is time that Donald Trump understood his own personal “Muslim Problem,” which is entirely business-related. It is better for him to stick to his business empire and drop out of the presidential campaign with what little integrity he has left.
