This past Thursday, Sesame Street unveiled an Afghani hijab-wearing Muppet named Zari who they say will teach kids about “girl empowerment, social and emotional wellbeing.”
Zari is set to make her first appearance in season five of Baghch-e-Simsim, which is the Afghanistan’s version of Sesame Street.
Check out what they have been posting on their twitter account.
